The Star Series

Artist Statement
The perception and understanding of GOOD and BAD varies and changes over times and can be quite different according to one's cultural background, experiences, circumstances and intellectual capabilities etc. The Star Series is a portrait series that highlights this phenomenon by categorizing 12 famous people into bad (left hand-side) and good (right hand- side) based on a rather superficial observation of their images projected by media and one's understanding and knowledge of history. The categorizing is more or less of satirical and ironical character leaving ample room for discussion.

About the paintings
The series consists of 12 individual portraits, an auto-portrait of Sardine & Tobleroni as a single person as well as a triptych representing the Last Supper with all the 12 bad and good people and in the middle an auto-portrait of Sardine & Tobleroni. Every painting is in acrylic on canvas, one half is painted by Tobleroni and the other by Sardine simultaneously.
